the-dyeing-process

sThe dyes I use are cold water dyes, imported from Dharma Trading Co in the USA. They are non-toxic when mixed and applied correctly.

dFirst I wash the clothes, to rinse any finish off them, and then soak them in a soda ash solution which helps the dye to fix to the fabric.

They are then tied into my chosen pattern.  Dye is applied and left to batch overnight so the colours are as bright and intense as possible, then the garments are rinsed out in cold water until all the loose dye is removed.

saThey are then soaked and agitated in warm water, followed by a long 40° wash in the machine to make sure that no unreacted dye is left, making everything perfectly safe to be worn, or even chewed (I have two small people to prove this)!
